Besneville

Besneville is an attractive village, with its centre 4.5km from the maison, but Besneville actually begins just across the river from the bottom of our meadow, and has lots of country lanes ideal for walking and cycling. The village centre, has a large square, used as a carpark, handy to visit the Bakers and General Stores. There is also a little cafe at the store which is ideal for those who wish to leave their car in the carpark, hike to the top of the Mont, then return for a coffee. The Mont is topped with heathland, woodland and pasture, which makes it a natural beauty spot, home to birds and animals. At the summit are three stone towers. One is a shrine to those who lost their lives in WWII, another, which has the staircase intact, has an orientation table and 360° viewing platform from the top, offering views of the surrounding countryside and out to sea to the Channel Islands.
